MY FRIEND KIM WALL
Kim and I started our careers in journalism together, as friends and reporting partners. We reported from Haiti, the Dominican Republic, Gibsonton - the last freakshow town in America - and all around New York.
After she tragically passed in August 2017, I wrote a tribute to celebrate her life and her light. It was published in English on The Guardian and in Italian on Vanity Fair.
On March 23, 2018, what would have been her 31st birthday, I re-wrote a short piece we had drafted together a long time before, about aphrodisiac cocktails in Haiti. It was published on Roads and Kingdoms.
In July 2020, ahead of the English-language release of “A Silenced Voice: The Life of Journalist Kim Wall”, written by Kim’s parents, I wrote this article featuring an interview with them for The Guardian.
